Employees get more out of your recruitment agency…..
Sometimes it’s not clear what the next step in your career is or what extra education or training you should consider. Perhaps your CV needs some tweaking, or your skill set or salary expectations are unrealistic or simple errors in your application or interview process needs refinement.
It’s surprising how many people submit their details and never ask for feedback. Job hunting is a job in itself and if you are trying to get your ideal job then taking lessons from each recruitment interaction is a good way of improving your chances of being hired. Go in with an open mind and be prepared to accept constructive criticism, then go away and work on it.
Recruitment professionals should be able to give you clear, objective and constructive advice to help you in your next career move. Having an outside professional opinion from someone who deals daily in the recruitment market is valuable. Often family or friends will not necessarily tell you what you need to hear to get you to the next step in an effective recruitment campaign. Professional advice can go a long way.
Some of the topics of advice you could consider are:
· Your cover letter. Does it address the needs and requirements of the advertisement? Don’t expect to send a generalist cover letter and expect an employer to call you with an interview time.
· Your CV layout. Is it clear and concise? Does it answer the questions in an employer’s and does it make them to find more about you?
· Have you considered your full skill set? Often talking to a recruiter will unveil a whole range of skills you did not know you had.
These are just some examples of suggestions you may need to think about. There are rafts of areas where you can refine your recruitment process. Keep in the back of your mind your employer could be facing as many as 100 CV’s plus per job advertisement. So don’t leave it to chance, good luck or an employer’s benevolence that they will see something in your CV that is not there!
